Gulaab Gang postponed, Because of Sampat Pal’s complaint
Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla starrer Gulaab Gang which was said to be released on March 7 will not hit the theatres. The movie is based on the life of activist Sampat Pal, who formed Gulabi Gang, a group of pink sari clad women vigilantes in Uttar Pradesh. The Delhi High Court stayed the release of the film. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva stayed the release of the film, that brings together warring actresses Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla for the first time. Sanjeev felt that if the film will be released it will destroy the reputation of Sampat Pal.
“Reputation once lost is lost forever and can not come back and even can’t be compensated with monetary terms,” the court said. Sampat Pal moved to the high court seeking a hold back order on the release of Gulaab Gang. Sampat says Filmmakers did not take her permission before making the film, which shows her in a bad light. Sampat alleged that the lead actor Madhuri playing her character was shown in bad light in the promos of the film, which will thus affect her reputation. The movie is directed by debutant Soumik Sen and produced by Anubhav Sinha. Apparently a real war has started. Let’s see how will the filmmaker settle the matter? And When the order will be passed by the court to release the film.?
