Nadal and Sharapova crushed at Indian Wells
Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova were mutually banged out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells on March 10, Monday after dramatic distresses at one of the world’s biggest events slight the four grand slams. Nadal was beaten by Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7-5) and Sharapova was sent packing by Italian qualifier Camila Giorgi 6-3 4-6 7-5 as last year’s women’s and men’s singles winner together crashed out. Rafa carried a 4-2 lead in the clearing tiebreak following the Spaniard had clashed his mode back from 5-2 fall in the third set. Nadal will now divert his concentration to the next event, Sony Open in south Florida and sais, “I wanted to play very well here. I had good success in this tournament in the past, a tournament I always feel good about. I’m going to keep working hard to try to be ready to play better in Miami.”
Nadal thrash Dolgopolov in the final match of the opening Rio Open previous month but the Ukrainian got his vengeance on the world number one in the Californian desert.
Dolgopolov said that, “I feel great, as after every win, of course. I beat the defending champion and the number one in the world”.
