S. Africa, Sri Lanka captains get 1 game suspension
Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal and South Africa captain Faf du Plessis were restricted for one Twenty20 game after their teams were charged for slow over-rates for the second time within 12 months, the ICC said on March 28.The International Cricket Council said, It was both team’s skippers second fault in the same layout, as South Africa were charged for being 2 over’s short next to New Zealand on Monday while Sri Lanka were short by 1 over next to New Zealand in Pallekele in November previous year.
The ICC match referee David Boon of Australia inflicted the suspensions and charges after both sides were ruled to be one over short of their goals at the finish of their games in Chittagong on Thursday. Sri Lanka vanished to England by 6 wickets while South Africa pulled off a remarkable 6 run victory against Netherlands. Both matches were held in Chittagong. That indicates Chandimal will not play Sri Lanka’s next match next to New Zealand in Chittagong on Monday. It will be a crucial game which will decide both teams’ chance for semi-final places.
