Amy Billimoria is a famous Fashion Designer who Completes 2 Decades in Fashion! Environmentalists are seeking to mitigate the environmental impacts on the garment industry, one such innovation is EcoFashion; 2 decade old in the fashion Industry, Designer Amy Billimoria talks about healthy fashion.
Being 20 year old in fashion industry, Designer Amy Billimoria has always been supporting EcoFashion seeking to identify & stop environmental problems.
Specializing in couture & bridal fashion & known in the fashion circuit for her Classy & ornate collection, Amy has contributed lot towards global warming over looking fashion wastage, saving colors & fabrics with her ever gorgeous wearable designs, she talks about her healthy fashion, “ReUse, Reduce, Recycle has always been the core of my designing forte. It’s been 15 long years ever since Amy has been showcasing her collection & the theme always has been to spread awareness on EcoFashion.”
She says “the trend of ‘fast fashion’ also leads to lots of waste, as old fashions come out of style and clothing items are thrown away. Amy uses old stuff, embroideries, Old Saris Borders & try to create unusually new & in style clothing so as to help save a lot of wastage. Transferring old traditional lehenga embroidery, re-creating old fabrics with new embroideries, she is doing every bit to curb the textile wastage.”
Amy Billimoria who has showcased her designs supporting various social causes put forth a brilliant initiative ‘Save the Girl Child’ at a prestigious award night. Apart from designing, Amy is a mentor herself at SNDT & B.D Somani College of fashion design. Amy has been graced with various titles like Lions Gold Awards, Manikchand Designer of the year, Leela Trophy for best embellishment & the list continues.
Amy who has successfully launched two lines of apparel‘Elements’ & ‘Pegasus’ talks about her collection, “Elements signify the aura & persona of a woman according to her various moods & attitude. I launched menswear recently, her next collection is into being; it is an interesting & unique concept adding more to drapes & bridal fashion.”
Amy off lately has started with a line of ethnic sarees using hand woven fabrics from the culturally rich states of India viz. Maharashtra, Manipur, Gujarat, Bangalore & Banaras.
For 20 years Amy Billimoria has given humongous contribution to Eco Fashion & wants to do more.
